President’s Report:

Welcome ladies to 50^th AGM of Senior Womens Golf Association (SA).  Senior Womens Golf was formed in 1973 the 50^th Anniversary of the 1^st meeting was celebrated with a game, luncheon and cake it was attended by past and present members and office bearers at Westward Ho on the 19^th June this year.

A very special welcome here today to our Life Members Raelene Cooper and Marilyn McLaughlin.  We have received an apology from Beryl Searle who is unable to attend today as she is in hospital recovering from surgery.  Thank you so much for your ongoing support Beryl, Raelene and Marilyn. 

Thank you to all our host clubs for 2023 and special thanks to Westward Ho Golf Club for supporting our AGM.

This year we welcomed 21 new members making a total of 80 members. Our members come from 15 different clubs and we play at 8 courses in and around Adelaide. 

On a sad note we acknowledge the passing of our Life Member Margaret Carruthers, our member Liz Bail and our Trophy Engraver Ray Curtis, this year.  RIP Margaret, Liz and Ray.

My thanks go to my Committee Raelene, Marilyn, Sue, Millie, Anne and Helen for doing a fantastic job this year.  A big thank you also to Tricia Anderson for all the work she does on updating our website.  I’d like to thank Millie and Format Homes who sponsor and print our annual programme for us.  And I would like to give a special mention to Jan Butcher, who although not playing comes out and helps hand out the score cards and gets us to the Tee block on time.  Thank you all for your ongoing support.

Congratulations to all our trophy winners throughout the year.

A huge thank to everyone who has supported our Raffle each meeting by donating prizes and purchasing tickets.

The Committee and I do hope you have enjoyed your Golf this year and made new friendships.

Looking forward to seeing you all in 2024

Captain’s Report:

Welcome to the new members who have joined SWG this year..Hope you are all enjoying the social side and the golf.

We have had a very happy winter season with great weather and great scores.  An average of 46 players coming from 13 different clubs: Nort Adelaide, Grange, West Lakes, Mt Osmond, Lockiel Park, TTG, The Vines, WWHO, The Stirling, Blackwood, Echunga. Kooyonga & Golf Australia.

Congratulations to all the trophy winners during the year. Well done to everyone.

We celebrated our 50 yr Anniversary at Westward Ho with a lunch and Anniversary cake.

During the festivities Millie Formato (Vice President) presented Jan Butcher with a 20 yr members badge, and Raelene Cooper and Marilyn McLachlan were made Life Members. 

Thank you to the committee for presenting me with the Life Membership, it was a big surprise and a highlight of the year.

Just a couple of other thank yous ie  to all the members for supporting Senior Womens Golf, Tricia Anderson for the website updates, Jan Butcher for her assistance giving out the cards etc, and the committee.

Treasurer's Report:

Thank you for being here today and attending the AGM.  We have had another very successful year welcoming 16 new members. We had a total of 80 members this year but unfortunately 2 of our members passed away. Liz Bail in April and very sadly one of our life members Marg Carruthers in July We currently have 3 life members who are Beryl Searle and this year Raelene Cooper and Marilyn McLachlan have been given well deserved life membership.

We have had very good attendances again in 2023 which has been great.

Your generous purchases of tickets in the raffles has once again aided in acquiring golf ball prizes and trophies and this year. We raised the exceptional amount of $2332 through raffles. I would especially like to thank all the members who donated raffle prizes throughout the year.

Our total bank balance as at 30^th September 2023 was $3249. We received $11375 in income and our expenditure was $13745 resulting in a deficit of $2370 for the year.  The club was able to contribute $1040 to the TTG Christmas golf day and lunch in Nov 22.  The total per person cost the club paid for the season to the various golf clubs amounted to approximately $240 per person but of course not everyone attends each time, and we are not charged for the members playing at their home club but our membership fees are extremely good value. However, as the costs are ever increasing particularly the green fees we are charged by the various clubs and our bank balance is gradually depleting we feel we will need to increase the membership fees slightly next year.  The current charge of $100 has been in place for the last 10 years.  From next year it has been decided the annual membership fee will need to be $130 which is still a very reasonable fee.

A copy of the financial report is available today, and I would like to thank Wendy and Marilyn for auditing the reports. Please feel free to take a copy. I am happy to answer any questions you may have.

Thanks to the other members of the committee for their assistance through out the year. I would now like to move that this report be accepted
